ABOUT
Pianist Sînziana Mircea has a vibrant solo career, renowned for her innovative approach to classical music. She performs on prestigious stages such as the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Beijing Silk Road Arts Center, Stockholm Philharmonic, St Martin-in-the-Fields in London, and Sala Radio in Bucharest. Her name frequently appears at major festivals including the Busan Maru Festival in South Korea, PalermoClassica in Italy, and PianoTexas Festival in the USA. Sînziana made her debut at the Romanian Athenaeum at the age of seven and embarked on her first U.S. tour at fourteen. Her rapid rise is confirmed by over 35 national and international awards, as well as her highly successful debut tour in Japan at nineteen. The following year, Sînziana debuted as a soloist with Beethoven’s "Emperor" Concerto No. 5 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theater. Her Carnegie Hall debut in New York (2016) was a sold-out solo recital, receiving prolonged standing ovations from the American audience. Shortly after, she embarked on her first solo tour in China, performing in major concert halls in Nanjing, Harbin, Dalian, Wuxi, and Yangzhou, and the International Stradivarius Tour with Alexandru Tomescu (2017). 2019 marked her return to Japan for an extensive tour, including venues such as Sapporo Concert Hall, Aomori Civic Hall, and Hakodate Concert Hall.
Sînziana trained under renowned professors Aldo Ciccolini, Ronan O’Hora, Verona Maier, Olga Szel, Stela Drăgulin, and Elena Dumitrescu. She graduated with top honors from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (Bachelor’s degree) and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London (Master’s degree). Sînziana also refined her skills at the Imola Piano Academy and holds a Master's in Arts Management from Bocconi Business School in Milan. She has received the National Brătianu Scholarship (Ministry of Culture, 2020) and the N. Iorga Scholarship (Ministry of Education & ICR, 2021).
Beyond delivering critically acclaimed performances, included in the Golden Audio Archive of Radio Romania, innovation and the courage to explore new horizons define Sînziana’s artistic path. Through immersive shows that blend classical music with technology, and standard repertoire with new compositions, Sînziana Mircea has crafted a pianistic profile that transcends conventional classical music boundaries. Since 2019, her "IMAGINE" concerts have pushed the boundaries of classical format, presenting audiences with celebrated works, new compositions, innovative chamber ensembles, and over 300-year-old unpublished works rediscovered and revived by her.
The International "Imagine Chopin" Tour (2019) captivated both audiences and critics with its unique program and dazzling performances, accompanied by vibrant live video-mapping projections. Her recital at Sala Radio, recorded by Radio Romania Muzical, later became a featured program on BBC Radio 3, broadcast throughout Europe in 2020 and 2021 under the title "All Chopin Program with pianist Sînziana Mircea," reaching millions through the European Broadcasting Union. In 2020, amid the pandemic, Sînziana released a series of music videos for her compositions, previewing the album "Fortuna-Piano Sensation." Published by Electrecord, this album marks the first in 50 years where a Romanian classical pianist is both performer and composer. The album’s live premiere at the Romanian Athenaeum was broadcast on TVR3 (Summer Magic Festival, 2021). That same year, she performed with the National Radio Orchestra in the first public concert at Sala Radio since the pandemic began.
Sînziana frequently performs with violinist Alexandru Tomescu, with whom she has released two albums and completed a world tour across Europe, China, and the USA during the 2023/2024 season. Her concerts, often sold out, are lauded by global audiences and critics alike: "Sînziana Mircea captivated the audience with her extraordinary pianistic artistry." (Tokachi-Mainichi, Japan, 2019). "The Romanian pianist masters various musical styles and works from different eras at the highest level, consistently fascinating the audience with her performances. Whether dramatic, nostalgic, or romantic, her interpretations always become a play of intense emotions." (Alina Fischer, Kölnische Rundschau, Germany, 2017).
Sînziana became the first Romanian pianist to win the Van Cliburn Foundation & TCU School of Music Scholarship Award (USA, 2014) and the first young Romanian pianist designated as a Young Steinway Artist (2017). She also won the Debut Award at the Miami International Piano Festival Academy (2016). Her solo career is complemented by musicological research and composition, realized through the discovery and premiere performances of Baroque works that had not been heard in centuries. Among the works she discovered in manuscript form at the Conservatory Library in Venice are compositions by Benedetto Marcello, which have inspired some of her most representative works. The "Serenissima Suite" for piano and live electronics blends acoustic sounds with synthesizers and nature sounds, while the "Aurora Suite" for piano and organ offers a rare chamber perspective. This work also forms the basis of her doctoral thesis as she pursues her doctorate at the West University of Timișoara.
Sînziana Mircea is a university piano professor at the "Luigi Canepa" Conservatory in Sardinia and serves as a jury member in international competitions such as the Steinway Piano Competition (Italy), WonderKeys (Germany), and the Remember Enescu Competition (Romania). In 2012, she founded the MuseArt Cultural Association, through which she runs projects dedicated to young musicians. In 2024, Sînziana was included in the volume "Changed by Women," launched by Bocconi University in Milan, celebrating 99 of its most representative female alumni from over 130,000 graduates in the university's 120-year history, written by journalist Diana Cavalcoli - Corriere della Sera.

ALEXANDRU TOMESCU
SINZIANA MIRCEA
Live in concert
Editura Casa Radio, 2023
A duo for three classics of the chamber music repertoire: Beethoven, Brahms, and Enescu represent three distinct sound worlds; being, at the same time, emblematic for their era.
Reflecting the recital from November 22, 2017, at Sala Radio, this album is yet another testament to the culture, integrity, and violinistic performance that Alexandru Tomescu's audience has come to expect. Qualities integrated into the ultimate imperative, the musical one. An equally fitting partner for an experience of balance and dynamism was pianist Sînziana Mircea, with whom he undertook the "Stradivarius" tour in the same year.
